Research in to Existing CD covers
The two picture of album covers by Katy Perry that I have uploaded are to good examples of covers where the artist is the main focus. They both use this very big swirly font which gives the impression of pop music. On both covers the artist is positioned in a very seductive position which can help to make the album appeal to men aswell as the rest of its target market. Similar colours are used in both.
The two album covers by usher also follow a similar theme to each other. The font used is more bold and harsh than that used on the Katy Perry covers. The cover has a more R&B feel to it. Although this cover may come across as more basic in term of graphics and design it can come across as more effective and sophisticated than others.
Looking at this CD cover of Lady GaGa it is very clear that it is cover for pop music. The modern design and the wild style of the artist are all factors that put it in to this pop category.
These examples of modern day CD covers have given me a lot of idea's for things I can do in my own cd cover. I can see that bold colours work well to make the cover stand out. On most of the designs the artists are the centre of attention.
